After a trial period on the damping system used in our T5040 base, we decided to make a step forward.
The ability offered by our system to free the objects from the listening environment has found ways to express itself to the fullest extent of its potential.
The first of a series of damping bases specially dedicated to Speakers is born, the choice has fallen on AVALON ACOUSTICS TRANSCENDENT.
Unlike the electronics such as cd players and amplifiers, which need to be isolated from vibrations transmitted by the environment, the loudspeakers need to be isolated for two reasons:
1) Do not be affected by vibrations transmitted by the environment
2) do not affect the listening environment with the vibrations generated by them.
The best system for isolating a body from vibration is to create, in coupling with the ground, a mass-spring-damper system
With accurate calculation of the masses, spring stiffness and damping coefficient, is practically possible to cancel or (at least) attenuate the vibrations transmitted in both directions.
This is the system normally used on our T5040 bases.
In the T4230AV-S model, an even more effective system, called "multiple spring damper", has been implemented.
Specifically, we have studied a standard T5040 base, resized according to AVALON speakers size, with a second damping system able to accommodate the cones supplied with the speaker.
The listening experience improvements were amazing. The acoustic scene is now much more stable, the low frequencies are much more present and defined and the sound overall is much closer to the original event.
Here are some indications and initial impressions of using and listening to the new "Terra Acoustic" bases, specially designed and built for my Avalon Transcendent loudspeaker system.
I have a dedicated and totally soundproof audio room, with floating floor and carpet flooring, the need to move Speakers for cleaning and sound setting, whenever necessary, have made me aware of the necessity of a dedicated sound bases.
The Transcendent, like most speakers, are placed on very pointed spikes and therefore need undercones o to be stuck in the floor to discharge its vibrations. The use for some time of a piece of local stone “Serena” under the speaker proved to be ineffective.
The purchase of Terra Acoustic "dedicated bases" has allowed me to achieve a great result, completely unexpected.
In addition to being very beautiful and technologically advanced, they are particularly effective, the loudspeakers sound completely free of vibration and harmful resonances.

Great precision of image, dynamic, speed and a “real sound” they were the first things I knew about
The voices became very transparent, the low end strongly controlled and consistent, always with good control over the entire audio response.
Many well-conceived loudspeakers are able to recreate a great sound with great fidelity, but once isolated from the environment they can reproduce unimaginable details.
Optimizing an audio system takes time and patience but now, through the speakers, my listening experience reached the qualitative level I wanted.

For the customer, who has a carpeted floor listening room, we have specially made carbon fiber "feet" that can provide stable support of the speaker but at the same time it can easily be moved for cleaning purposes.
In agreement with the customer we started a feasibility study, analyzing the Avalon speakers, their measurements and especially the weight distribution on the three points of support.
Then we went to an ambient stage, elaborating a number of renderings with the aim of evaluating the aesthetic impact of the base as a whole with the speakers.
Once we have defined the materials and finishes we have gone to the realization.... With our usual high quality standard...
